There were a lot of ill feelings when Instagram launched stories to compete with the popularity of Snapchat, but that should not prevent you from leveraging both to grow your business. You can add videos and photos throughout the day.

You won’t have to stress over this content as much as your normal content because it disappears after 24 hours. With Instagram Stories, they do not appear on your profile grid or in the feed. Instead, it is featured across the top of your homepage as little circles.
There is also another advantage, at least for the time being. Instagram stories are not currently regulated by the algorithm that limits your visibility.

So exactly what should you do with Instagram Stories and Snapchat? That depends on your audience and your goal. I will give you three tips that almost any business can use.

#1 – Use stories to get more personal and connect with your audience. Remember that for people to buy from you, they need to know, like, and trust you. This is a great way to build those relationships.

#2 – Use stories for flash sales. Because the content only lasts for 24 hours, this is a perfect way to announce a flash sale. Just remember, each of the components of the story last for 24 hours. So, if you are having a 24-hour sale, you might only want to post once in stories. For an 18-hour sale, post different content for the first 6 hours. It will take a total of 18 hours for all content to disappear.

So, there you have it, 3 ways to use Instagram and/or Snapchat stories to give your sales a boost. Before I go, one last thing… remember to be clear in your messaging and provide the CTA (call to action) in your photo or video. Tell them where to go and what to do next. Give them the URL (shortened). Show it, then say it if using video.
Whatever you do, don’t just rely on static photos on your grid or in the feed. Remember, there is magic in a story. Share your story!
