I see you!
You’re unapologetic about what you want from life and you’re not afraid to put in work to get it. So, you go hard in all areas of your life. It’s all you know. But lately, you have become more and more overwhelmed by all of the demands on your life. And to put it bluntly, you’re exhausted by everything going on in the world around you.
Relationships, work, family responsibilities, world social issues… it is just too much! All you want to do is snuggle into your bed for a long, restful nap. But you can’t because your to-do list keeps growing while your time and energy keep shrinking. Who has time for rest? Raise your hand if you can relate.
You know that you SHOULD prioritize self-care, but you always seem to put yourself on the back burner. Let me ask you something. When are you going to exhale, put down your heavy load, and LIVE? I’ll wait.
Well, you are not alone.
Hey, I’m Destiny and I assure you that I get it. I’ve felt the overwhelm of it all too. And if I’m honest, sometimes I still do. Between shifting to remote work, moving clear across the country, trying to process and deal with and all of the painful events surrounding our community, and let’s not forget all that comes with being a woman, it’s a lot!!
Any one of those things alone can get out of hand, but add them all together and the weight of it all can halt your progress.
If you don’t find a way to balance it all, it can have a severely impact on your life. That’s why it is important to make self-care a priority. It’s what I did and what you should do too.
Listen, I admit it’s hard! Before 2020, my selfcare routine was pretty non-existent and it was evident. I lacked motivation, consistency, and patience with myself. I was fed up with being in a constant state of tension and uncertainty. So, I made a conscious decision to pour into me every day because I realized I could no longer pour from an empty cup.
You don’t have to live in a constant state of overwhelm. Overwhelm is what happens when you don’t make self-care a priority!
Okay, so now that you know about my sometimes successful sometimes not so successful attempts at taking better care of myself, let me share a bit about me to help you decide if you want to accompany me on this journey.
Just a few things you need to know…
- I love to travel, eat delicious food, and shop. I mean really, what’s not to love?
- I am a self-professed beauty product addict. If it conditions and defines my curls or makes my skin glow, I probably have enough for three people.
- I am obsessed with soft throws and candles that smell good. I literally could spend all day in Target.
- I am social, but I also need my alone time. I absolutely love connecting with new people, but all that social life requires energy and focus, so I round it out with meditation and journaling. If I am going to give people my best, I need to be at my best.
- I don’t like working out, but I love to dance. So I try to blend the two as much as possible.
- I eat pretty healthy most of the time, but junk food is my guilty pleasure.
- When I’m at home, I love really soft, comfy loungewear. For running errands, I love cute little dresses (with pockets), and who doesn’t love leggings. But don’t get it twisted, I LOVE to dress up.
- My second addiction is shoes. Aht! Aht! Don’t judge me!
Hopefully, I’ve given you a pretty good glimpse into my world, and we can vibe. To sum it all up, I’m all about a lifestyle filled with freedom, occasional indulgence, peace, and fun! If that’s what you’re looking for, then I am here for you. We’re in this together. It is time for you to put yourself first!
